Tangshan is
the creation of a Sustainable Urban Planning
framework for a famous semi-rural area 30 km
from Nanjing City. In conjunction with ULE,
Macroplan and Tongji University in Shanghai.
Architektonic are nearing completion of the
Master plan for the 70 km 2
site.
The
Sustainability Mission Statement for the project
is
The
objective of this master plan for the Tangshan
(Northern Part) region is to identify the
current sustainability challenges and provide
the design concepts and a framework to develop a
world-leading sustainable model for the region.
It is
intended that the design concepts developed by
this master plan would provide an exemplary
model of a sustainable regional development for
application throughout China.
The major
sustainability issues proposed for the site
include:

ecological value;
Management of municipal waste;
Reducing water pollution and improving
quality;
Reducing
air pollution and improving quality;
Improving aesthetic value of region;

Renewable energy
supply and infrastructure;
Securing water
supply and infrastructure;
Management of
waste water;
Management/utilisation
of agricultural wastes;
