Residential Complex, Fu-Yong, Shenzhen, China
(Concept Design)
This innovative design project representative of a
fish adjacent to the lake uses orientation and
location as the major design driver for the 300,000
m2
site. By
capturing and enhancing the local breezes and
ensuring that the buildings are only one apartment
deep, the buildings
are permitted
to ‘breathe? The use of the thermal mass of the
water, and the funnelling of cool breezes through
the centre of the site also meant that a
micro-climate was formed at landscape level. This
helps to alleviate the high humidity levels
associated with this location while utilising the
advantages of the natural environment to develop the
most appropriate and cost effective sustainability
features for the development, reflecting the
appropriate mix of outcome and expenditure in
achieving the best result for the client. This
project is now at concept development stage subject
to the prevailing economic conditions in Shenzhen.
